Second Author’s Note: Well, it’s been a very long time since I’ve written this. I can recall where I was at the time I did this archive fic. It was late and I was lying on my bed when this little diddy came about. It’s very odd for me to look at this and realize that I did a “Mary Sue” of sorts. Psst, don’t worry, I know they’re fictional, really I do. A.M. Glass – January 30th, 2005
“Um.. hello.” “Angela?” “Hmm?” I replied without looking. “Excuse us...” came a male voice. I had been thinking about posting something and had not heard anyone enter my room, I turned my head to the left and saw two people standing by my bookcase. “Uh... no.. this is not happening...” I uttered out loud. “Actually it is,” she said. “Yeah... sure it is. Okay... that’s it, no more writing for me. Sleep, yeah.. that’s a good idea, I’ll go to sleep,” I said as I adjusted my pillows. “Angela?” “You’re not going to leave are you?” I asked. I watched as they turned and looked at each other. I had the vague feeling that they were communicating with each other the way Mulder and Scully do at times. “No,” they reply in unison. “Why did I know you were going to say that? You might as well have a seat, I have a feeling you two are going to be here for awhile,” I said. A warm smiled graced her face. “You really like that don’t you?” Shaking my head, I wondered where that question came from. “Liked what?” “Oh... I saw you smiling a minute ago. You were thinking of that line again weren’t you?” My shoulders slump, I understood now. “I can’t help it... it’s just so damn cute..” “She has a point dear,” he said, sitting down. “Okay... now that we’ve all decided that I get a really goofy look on my face whenever I hear that line... “buff, Buff”, can you two please tell me why you’re here?” “Well, we... Giles and I, we want to know why haven’t you posted the link?” Willow asked as she sat in Giles’ lap. “Oh... that.” “Yes... that,” Willow said. “It’s like this, I’m not sure anyone would be interested in it. After all, I haven’t finished it and I’m not quite sure if I ever will,” I replied. “But you put in so much work into it,” Willow said. “Yes Angela, it would be a shame if no one saw it,” Giles added. “I don’t know.” “Well then, why don’t you take it down?” Willow asked. “To be honest, I was sort of hoping that a certain someone was going to place it on their site. You know, so that people who didn’t know how or what beta-ing a story was about could go to the link and see what it looked like,” I said shrugging my shoulders. “It’s a good idea,” Willow told me. “You’ve left you’re self wide open, you realize that don’t you?” Giles asked. “I know,” I sighed. “It’s not everyday that an author allows his or her readers to get a look at what they go through to put a story together. I didn’t think I’d ever get the question mark bit down,” I smiled to myself. “The what?” Giles asked. Shaking my head, “It’s just that throughout the story, there were notations from Tracy about putting question marks after someone spoke. You know, when you’ve asked a question, that sort of thing,” I replied. “I see..” Giles said. “So... are you going to do it?” Willow asked. “Question mark,” I uttered to myself. “Maybe, I really don’t know. Tracy thought it would be a good idea, she wanted to know what kind of reaction it would get, after all she’s involved as well. If it hadn’t been for Tracy, I would have never heard the term “Waffy“ before,” I said grinning. “Waffy? Never mind, I’m sure it’s a good thing,” Giles said. “You should do it. You never know, someone else might actually pick up on it and put it up on their website,” Willow said as she absentmindedly ran her fingers through Giles hair. “Okay... okay, I’ll do it, just so I can say I did,” I grumbled. “Well then, I believe our work is done,” Giles said. “I’ll let you know...” I let the words trail off. “Angela, what’s wrong?” Willow asked getting out of Giles lap, much to his dismay. “I need help... I’m having a conversation with two fictional characters... oh brother.” “We are as real as you want us to be,” Willow said. “That’s supposed to make me feel better?” I asked. “Don’t worry, as soon as you put the pen down, we’ll be gone... at least until you’ve decided to write another story that is,” Willow explained. “Listen to her Angela,” Giles told me. “Um... yes, I’ve.. I’ve never said this, but thank you.” “For what?” I asked. “Ah... my pleasure,” I said when he took Willow’s hand in his. “Oh.. and try not to write any more stories where something happens to either Willow or myself,” Giles said. “Sorry.... it’s the songs,” I replied. “Try to find happier ones,” he suggested. “Actually, I heard one this morning... I have to find the lyrics..” “Angela?” “Yes Will?” “See if you can get us home from the hospital,” she said. “I’ll try. I’m sort of stuck, I don’t really know what to do, but I’ll try,” I answered. “We should get going, I do believe Laura may be coming out of her hiatus, and start writing again,” Giles said, his face flushing at the thought. “You’re so bad,” I told him. “See you later?” Willow asked as she gave me a hug good-bye. “Yeah.. I’ve written three more stories, two last weekend and another yesterday,” I replied. “No one dies do they?” Giles whispered in my ear as he gave me a hug. “That would be telling, wouldn’t it?” I replied. “Bullocks!” he said. “Language Giles... language.” “Bye Angela.” “Bye guys... look after each other okay?” “We will.” I watched as they disappeared from sight. “Hmm.. okay, how am I going to do this?” I asked myself. Snapping my fingers, I grab my pen, “That’s it... let’s see where should I start?”
“Um... Hello...” “Angela?” The End.
It’s true, I’ve posted what I called an “Editor’s Edition” of “Foray”. So... if you’ve ever wondered what happens here’s your chance. I should say that this doesn’t represent how it works for everyone, just between Tracy and myself. OH.. I’ve just gone back to take a look at it, and I’ve decided to take the link for the second part off... only until I’ve changed one thing, but I’m going to have to do it for the other parts as well. Depending on the feedback I get from it, I may just finish what I started. Angela
